Sr. Ann Augustine O’Neill, 89, died Jan. 9, 2012, at the QEII Health Services, V.G. site in Halifax, N.S. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Anastasia (Campbell) O’Neill. She entered the Sisters of Charity, Halifax in 1942, and made her religious profession in 1945. Sr. Ann Augustine was a housekeeper and dietary supervisor for 43 years, serving in Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Alberta. Her retirement years included volunteer work in pastoral care.
She is survived by her sisters, Carmella (Mrs. Ronald Campbell), Glace Bay and brother, Gerald (Jessie) O’Neill, Glace Bay; as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by brothers, William, Francis, Augustus, Hugh and infant Ignatius and by infant sisters, Margaret and Teresa. The body will be in Caritas Residence, with visitation today (Wednesday), Jan. 11, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, N.S.
