Sister Mary Carmelina MacLellan

MACLELLAN, Sister Mary Carmelina, 97, died December 25, 2011 in Seton Way, Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS. Born in New Waterford, NS, she was the daughter of John J. MacLellan and Margaret (MacDonald) MacLellan. She entered the Sisters of Charity – Halifax in 1934 and made her religious profession in 1936. Sister Carmelina was an educator for 41 years, serving in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and New Brunswick, retiring from teaching in 1977. Her retirement embraced working with recovering alcoholics and serving in parish ministry in her beloved Cape Breton. In September, 2005, she moved to DePaul Hall and then to Seton Way, both in Parkstone Enhanced Care. She is survived by her brother Daniel as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John A., Alexander and James; and by her sisters Annie and Sister Margaret (John of the Cross), SC, and by her sister-in-law, Joan. The body will be in Caritas Residence, with visitation today, Wednesday, December 28 from 3 – 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 29 at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS.
