As Sisters of Charity, our joyful witness
to God’s love is linked to the
living of healthy, happy, holy lives. Over
the past few years, we have done considerable
exploration into development of a
new philosophy of aging. Working with
consultants, we are also looking at best
practices in retirement planning and
options for housing, home adaptations
and health care resources.
Long adept at self-care, self-direction
and self-advocacy, we are now being
called to embrace interdependence and
make realistic choices for the future. We
hope to collaborate with others in seeking
a just and effective health care system
for all, and a fresh outlook
on aging. Visit our Living Well/Aging Well section for more information of services in the New York area (we are expanding our resources, so please check back regularly).
American writer Edith
Wharton suggests that
longevity and creativity rests
on four things: being
unafraid of change, having
an insatiable intellectual
curiosity, being interested in
big things, and being happy
in small ways.
Our Sisters living in retirement
residences are such wonderful examples
of how to live in this way! |
