I attended Seton Hall High School in Long Island New York along with my 2 brothers and 1 sister. They were some of the best years of my life, in large part due to the leadership of Siste Mary Louise. Thank you and may God keep you safe and well.

I was looking for a site with news of Seton Hall High School, where I graduated in 1960, and found your site. I am so glad the Order is alive and active.
The old high school is no more, but the life the sisters instilled in us still is!
As I reflect on 40 years of living since high school, I realize that I am still grateful daily for what I received from the sisters.
I was only there my senior year, but that one year was incredible. I don't know if I have ever seen--or will see-- the kind of passion for learning that the sisters had!
Thank you sisters and God bless you in all you do.

I attended and graduated from Mt St Agnes Academy in Bermuda, 1961. Although I have often visited Bermuda, I have never returned to the school; it wasn't the same after the original building was sold.
I would like to hear from any others who attended MSA in the '50s and '60s

I was a graduate of St. Peters' Elementary School in Dorchester, in 1963, and St. Pat's in Roxbury in 1967. I was curious, particularly, in the elementary school years. I vividly remember the kindness and beauty of St. Loretta Margaret. I often think of her with gratitude for one single act of kindness. Anyone else from those years out there.

I am a graduate of Seton Hall in Patchogue, NY. The years there were among the best of my life. I only wish that the school was still there when my daughters were of high school age. The Sisters of Charity did a wonderful job in educating and shaping the lives of many young people. We owe those nuns a great debt.

When I went to St Pat's in Roxbury my 2nd grade teacher was S. Mary Olga. She isn't the same one who wrote "Charity Alive" is she?
Blessings on all the Sisters who labored in the vineyards of Roxbury and Dorchester! You taught me to pray, to dream and to follow my Call, even if it was out of the Roman Catholic Church into the Episcopal Church.
With undying gratitude,

I'm a graduate of St. Aidan's School in Williston Park NY '65. I found your website by accident & I'm so glad. Another message in the archives mentioned Sr. Anne Power whom I knew as Sr. Mary Julius - my 8th grade teacher. I would love to locate her. I think of her so often - she would never remember me but she changed my life by encouraging me academically. I wish I could thank her for her kindness and respect.
Best Regards

I was resetting my internet service and come to find out its technical division was in Canada. By chance, I put in the keyword for SCH and found the site. I am pleased to say I know and am related to Sisters of your wonderful and giving community. They both have had a direct influence on my life. The first is Sr. Ruth Sheridan (Sr. Theresa of Avila) and the late Sr. Sophie O'Neill...I am sure that both these cousins and others in the Community that I have met have certainly enriched my life and will always carry a place in my heart. God Bless.

I graduated from Our Lady of the Cenacle Grammar School in 1960. My 7th grade teacher was Sister Mary Louise Brink and my 8th grade teacher was Sister Mary Emily. I traveled to Mount Saint Vincent in Halifax in1966 to visit with my friend, Mary Ann Furno, who was a Novice there. I will never forget the gracious hospitality that was shown to me. The Sisters of Charity of Halifax are #1 in my book. Keep up the good work!

I graduated from St. Patricks High Halifax, N.S. in 1964. Having been taught by the Sisters of Charity all through school I cannot begin to say what an impact they had on the path I took as I matured and moved about this wonderful country. The Sisters gave me a strong foundation that has been a support for me in all my choices. I can never thank them all enough for allowing me to see what faith can do for a person...it has been the core of my existence ...I hope that many others will have the delight of one day realizing what a gift the Sisters were to us...and may they influence many other lives in the future....The spirit of the Mount will forever be there....no matter what.

I am a 1968 graduate of the Resurrection-Ascension School in Rego Park, Queens, New York, New York.
I will always fondly remember all of the Sisters of Charity who taught me through my grammer school years and am grateful to have had them. Sister Mary Josephine in first grade was the sweetest and I realize she was the perfect teacher for my first grade. Sister Agnes Regina and Sister John Kevin for my fourth and fifth grade also stand out as memorable.
However, everyone has one single person in their life who they consider as being the most imporant teacher in their life. For me, even through my high school and college years, that favorite teacher was Sister Catherine Henrietta; my teacher in grammer school; class 6-1.
Her reputation throughout the school was as being the toughest of all of the nuns, who ran her classes with an eagle eye and an iron. I vividly remember when at the end of the summer as I was about enter the sixth grade and learned that she was to be my teacher for that upcoming year, I was quaking in fear and actually cried over my fate. Very soon after the school year began, I lost that trepidation and grew to appreciate her. By the end of the school year, she had won over my heart and I came to love her.
Today whenever someone asks me who the was most important teacher in my life, I say without having to think about an answer, that my best teacher was Sister Catherine Henrietta.
I have not spoken with her since graduating from RA. If she is still here with us her on earth, would you please pass on to her my feelings about how important she was to my growth and development. If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if I could write or speak with her again.
To all the wonderful sisters who taught me and the entire order of the Sisters of Charity, I owe a debt I can never repay. All I can say is, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am seeking a long lost cousin, Sister Mary Clarissa Tanner, who was born in Halifax, N.S. and was probably a Sister of Charity. She was stationed in Bolivia and later in Boston, MA, where she resided in the Motherhouse there. If anyone has ever heard of Sister or her whereabouts, please help me find her or tell me where I might contact someone who could help.

I graduated from St Patrick's Roxbury in 1962 (gulp!). The absolute best teacher in the universe was Sr John Helen who I had in the 8th grade. I transferred from the Boston Public Schools in the 6th grade, and she practically, single-handidly reversed 5 years of 'custodial' education. Thank you for placing her in my life.

I am a former student and graduate ('75) of St. Kevin's School in Dorchester, MA. I often reflect back on the years I attended school there and I am forever grateful to the Sisters that taught me and paved the way for my future. I fondly remember ... Srs. Margaret Augustine (1st), Lawrence Marie (2nd), Maryann Sherlock (4th), Agnes Catherine (5th), Rita Toomey (6th), Mary Denise (7th) and Barbara Monahan (8th), whom I still am in contact with and the former principals ... Sisters Aiden Marie (Margaret McKean?) and Paula Kelley. I want to let all of the former and present Sisters know that they do make a difference in a child's life and may God Bless you all.
It would also be a nice addition to your site to post some of the past pictures of Sisters in their prior habits, reflecting the history of your order. Anyway .. Thanks again!

Great web. I was taught in Vancouver at St. Helen Elementary and Notre Dame High by many talented teachers. So many of us at these schools went on to great careers in education. It was the influence and encouragement of many of the Sisters that helped many of us. Again, great website and it was fun to read the many topics.

I was so happy to find this website. I am a graduate of St. Peter's ('64) and MRM ('68) in Dorchester. I have so much to thank the Sisters of Charity for -- a wonderful education and many, many wonderful memories. I have some great memories of Sr. Lorraine Therese and Sr. Philomenia Marie from MRM and Sr. William Jude and Sr. Patrick Alexander from St. Peter's. If anyone hears from Sr. Paul Anthony (Suzie McDevitt) from Navillus Terrace in Dorchester, please remember me to her. Tell her hello from Marty and Rita O'Toole. Thank you.

I have visited your lovely Motherhouse in 1948 and again in 1955. A lot has happened since then. I had two sisters in the Order. One died in 1984 Sr. Ann Mullen. My other sister, Sr. Catherine Mullen is presently at E.S.R. in Wellesley. It is nice to see that S.C.H. has it's own web page.

As a former Sister of Charity (Claire Grenier), and a niece of Sister Irene Cote now in Mt. St. Vincent, Wellesley, I am delighted to be able to keep in touch with the news of the congregation. It saddens me to hear of the sale of the Motherhouse, but it is a very large building and an overbearing financial burden to be sure. The Lord has been good to the SCH over the years and I am sure He will guide those making the decisions now.
God bless you all, Claire

Happened on your site while exploring the catholichalifax site. It pleased me so, I went to the guestbook and as I read the notes I felt that I could have written many of the same notes. A change of venue, a name change perhaps...1947 Sister Thomas Aquinas [Tommy gun to us ]...that was at Leonard school in Quebec City, through to Sister John Boscoe in grade eight [aw could she sing!] and what a basketball coach, long skirts no hindrance at all. Sister Anthony Of Padua in grade 9...so very gentle and what a historian. She had us do a "radio broadcast " of the Battle Of Hastings that I will never forget. And dear dear Sister Agnes Therese in grade 11...impeccable french and an impeccable woman. My memories of these Sisters and all in fact, too numerous to name, will live in me for as long as I live...and bring me joy and comfort and peace. I was so fortunate to be the recipient of their care and concern. I just wanted to share this with others who know the same feeling. Thank you for the opportunity to do so...

After 8 wonderful years at St. Barnabas in Bellmore, I attended Seton Hall, Patchogue for one year and later finished my Education at Villanova Univ. The start in life I received at the hands of the Sisters of Charity can not be measured in material value, and I shall never forget them or their work. Sister Regina Therese has kept me informed of the activities of my classmates from the fourth grade, which is an indication of the dedication she posesses, not to mention the most fantastic memory I have ever encounted. Bless all of you.

I received a copy of Bringing Hope Newsletter and was happy to find your website. I entered MSV in 1964...My claim to fame was I was the first to leave the SPARROWS after 19 days. My long association with the Sisters started in grade one, at St. Peters Dor.,MA. and continued thru graduation from MRM in 1964. Sr. Loretta Margaret was my sponsor then, and after all these years and distance, we are more like family than friends. The Sisters were and still are a very important part of my life.
